Why Blogging. An Introduction.

I realize that an “introduction” is a little late with three posts already preceding it, but there are some new people joining us who may want to know a little about me.

616455_4577538633260_1620940743_oDarren is what my Edna Mae Maynard named me, 3 decades ago, so Darren is what I go by. I have twins. Identical boys. I’m a student at Ohio University, studying for my Bachelor’s (Nursing). In the summer I’m all about going to amusement parks and riding coasters. I’m hands up all the way! I love to travel, even if it’s to places I’ve already visited. It’s the traveling that I love. I sing in the shower and I am a really good singer. When I’m home alone I hook my iPhone up, find my “jam,” hit replay and “perform.” Tickets are on sale now. I read on an Amazon kindle, avidly. I’m doing my part to save a tree or two and that’s good, right? My favorite past time is snapping pictures. I love, love, love photography. I have an SLR camera that I don’t use much. It’s iPhone only here. I take many pictures — I can fill 16 GB in no time — but only a small fraction of them are ever good enough to be seen my others. My secret passion (shhh) is commercial aviation. I know much about types of aircraft and airlines. I even collect model aircraft. Most of all I love being a dad!

For years I’ve wanted to maintain a blog. The problem was I didn’t know what I wanted to blog about. I have so many interests, as you can tell. So, what I did, I wrote down everything above and decided that I would write about . . . being a dad. How much simpler can it be?

I told my wife the other day that I started the blog. When she asked me what it would be about I told her I was going to use it as a sort of personal diary, in a public way. She said it better not be too personal. I said it wouldn’t.

With my busy college life I’m hoping to be able to keep up with the blog, at least weekly. I think I will gain a sense of personal fulfillment with this blog by providing some insight to new dads (with singles and multiples). I’m also hoping that others will gain interest in my experience as a dad, raising twins, going to college, and all with the help of an extremely supportive wife.

Usually, I hear that I look as if I didn’t have much to do with making them. Haha

i know we dont know each other real well darren but i think you are doing a heck of a job, trust me i know cause having three kids and a wife and working 9 to 5 and was going to school and maintaining my running obsession (which i made a horrible choice to do bye the way running is hard on the body if you run way too much) we have similar stories yet yours on another level because i only had to go for a year for my career.i am glad that i chose to go back to school but if i ever do again my children will be grown because that is very hard to balance all of that but keep up the good work hope everything goes well for you and your family take care!!!!

School and kids take a lot of time. I’m so glad I don’t have to work while I get my education.

Yes, I am. Luckily, I have to work while I’m in school.
